The two multiplier systems
| Area | How many segments | Possible multipliers | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leaf 1 / Leaf 2 | One random leaf segment | 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x or 10x | Pays up to 10:1 if the flapper stops on the boosted leaf |
| Bonus segments | All segments linked to one bonus type | 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x or 10x | Every fish multiplier inside that bonus is multiplied by the same value |
Note the asymmetry. Leaf multipliers are larger (3x to 10x) but land on a single segment out of forty-six, so they rarely hit the leaf you backed. Bonus multipliers are smaller on average (2x to 10x) but apply to every segment of that bonus type, so if the wheel stops there, the boost is guaranteed to matter.
What a leaf multiplier pays

A leaf segment with a multiplier pays at that multiplier instead of 1:1. The published payouts run from 3:1 up to 10:1 — the multiplier value, not the multiplier value minus one, because your stake is returned as part of the payout. A 7x segment returns €7 profit plus your €1 stake.
The catch is precision: only one leaf segment is boosted per round, and the flapper must stop on that exact segment. With 46 leaf segments in play, the boosted one comes up in roughly one leaf round in forty-six. Treat it as a pleasant surprise, never as part of a plan.
What a bonus multiplier does
When a bonus type is boosted, every fish inside that bonus round is multiplied by the same value. A Lil' Blues catch of 60x with a 4x wheel boost pays 240x your bonus stake. The boost is applied to the fish value, not to your stake, which is why the ceiling scales the way it does: 100x becomes 1,000x, 200x becomes 2,000x and 500x becomes 5,000x at the top end.
This is also the only place in the game where the published RTP and the headline max win meet. The 5,000x figure is not a marketing number: it is 500x (top Huge Reds fish) times 10x (top wheel boost).
How often multipliers appear

Evolution does not publish the exact frequency of each multiplier value, and we will not invent one. What can be said from observation across long sessions is that the smaller values (2x and 3x) appear far more often than the larger ones (7x and 10x), that at least one multiplier of some kind appears in the large majority of rounds, and that a 10x on Huge Reds is rare enough that most players will go a long time without seeing it.
The arithmetic of the maximum win
- Huge Reds fish range — 10x to 500x — the highest fish values in the game.
- Maximum Huge Reds stake — €500, which is why the ceiling is reachable at a modest stake.
- Top wheel boost — 10x, applied to all segments of one bonus type.
- Theoretical maximum — 500 × 10 = 5,000x the stake — €5,000 from a €1 chip, €250,000 from a €50 chip.
- The cap — €500,000 per round, whatever the stake.
Why you cannot play the multipliers
The assignment happens after the betting window closes. That single ordering rule removes every timing strategy: you cannot see a 10x land on Huge Reds and then bet it, because by the time the boost is visible, chips are no longer accepted. The practical implication is that your bet selection has to be made on the structure of the game — hit rates, volatility, stake size — not on what the wheel is about to do.
Using multipliers sensibly
- Decide your pattern before the window opens — Know which spots you will cover and with how much, so the fifteen seconds are spent confirming rather than improvising.
- Size the bonus bet for the boost — A €0.50 Huge Reds chip with a 10x boost and a 200x fish already returns €1,000 — the stake does not need to be large for the ceiling to matter.
- Do not chase after a drought — Multipliers are independent from round to round; the wheel does not owe you a boost because it has been quiet.
- Watch a few rounds first — Seeing the multiplier stage a dozen times teaches more than any description — and watching costs nothing.
Where multipliers pay the most
Where the multiplier comes from: RNG, not the animation
It is worth being precise about this, because the presentation is deliberately dramatic. The fish breaks the surface with a number on it, and the host reacts as though the result is just happening. It is not: the random number generator has already fixed both the segment and the multiplier, and the animation is the reveal.
This matters for one practical reason. Nothing you do — when you place the chip, how long you wait, whether you switch spots at the last second — has any effect on the number. Multiplier hunting is not a strategy, because the multiplier is not visible to hunt.
Multiplier hunting and other habits to avoid
Three habits follow from misunderstanding the multiplier. The first is increasing the bonus stake after a run of segments you did not back, on the theory that a bonus is due; each round is independent, so the odds are unchanged. The second is moving chips to the spot that paid most recently, which is the same error applied to the wheel. The third is treating a 3x fish as a bad outcome — it is the bottom of the range, and it is still a win.
The constructive version of the same instinct is to plan the multiplier exposure in advance: decide what share of each round's stake goes to the bonus spots, keep it constant, and let the distribution do the work over hundreds of rounds.
How multipliers interact with the max-bet rule
There is one place where a multiplier can cause trouble: playing with a bonus. Most wagering rules cap the stake per round, and a boosted win does not change that cap — but a player who increases the stake after seeing multipliers is breaching it. A 100x catch with a breached max-bet rule is the classic way to have winnings confiscated.
Keep the stake constant while wagering, check the cap in the terms, and if you want to chase the ceiling, do it with cash rather than bonus funds.
- Leaf 1 / Leaf 2 — 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x or 10x on one random leaf before the spin.
- Lil' Blues — 3x to 100x, times a 2x–10x wheel boost = 6x to 1,000x.
- Big Oranges — 4x to 200x, times a 2x–10x wheel boost = 8x to 2,000x.
- Huge Reds — 10x to 500x, times a 2x–10x wheel boost = 20x to 5,000x.
Tracking multipliers across a session
If you enjoy the statistical side, note each leaf round as boosted or plain along with the multiplier. Over a hundred rounds the boosted rounds will cluster around a fifth of the total, and the multipliers will distribute across 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x and 10x roughly as the paytable suggests.
The exercise has one practical value: it makes the game's randomness concrete. Seeing the distribution settle near its published shape is far more convincing than being told that it will.
- 3x boost, €1 stake — €3 payout, €2 profit — the most common boosted outcome.
- 5x boost, €1 stake — €5 payout, €4 profit — a round that visibly moves a small session.
- 10x boost, €2 stake — €20 payout, €18 profit — roughly one round in fifty.
- No boost, €1 stake — €1 payout: your stake back, no profit, no loss.
Multipliers and the five stages of a round
It helps to know exactly where the multiplier appears in the sequence. The betting window opens, players place chips, the window closes, the wheel assigns any boost and shows it, the spin resolves, and if a bonus segment landed the feature plays out with its own fish multiplier. Two independent multiplier events, clearly separated in time.
That separation explains the two different feelings the game produces. The wheel boost is known before the spin resolves, so you watch the last few seconds of the spin holding your breath. The fish multiplier is a reveal, so the tension sits in the reveal itself.
- 1 — window opens — About fifteen seconds to place or repeat your chips. No multiplier is visible.
- 2 — window closes — Betting is locked; nothing you do now changes the round.
- 3 — wheel boost — A leaf or a bonus type is assigned 2x to 10x and shown on the wheel.
- 4 — spin — The flapper settles and the segment is highlighted.
- 5 — bonus reveal — If a bonus triggered, a fish surfaces with its own multiplier.
The most common disappointment in this game is not a losing session — it is a winning session in which the multiplier was smaller than the player hoped for. Knowing the ranges in advance removes that: if you have read the paytable, a 15x catch on Lil' Blues is exactly what it says it is, neither a disappointment nor a near miss.
Session diary: 14 rounds at €3.00 a round
We logged 14 consecutive rounds with €1.00 on each leaf and €1.00 on Lil' Blues, starting from a balance of €120.00. The log below is the round-by-round record exactly as it played out, followed by what the session taught us.

One logged session from our test archive. A single session proves nothing about the long run — it shows what variance feels like at this stake size.
The multiplier column is the interesting one here. It shows how rarely the top of each range appears in a short session, and how often a plain round returns exactly the stake with no multiplier at all.
That is the honest picture: multipliers are a bonus on top of the base game, not the main event, and a session plan that assumes the top of the range will arrive is not a plan.
Key terms
Short definitions of the terms used inside the game and in casino bonus terms.
| Leaf bet | An even-money bet on Leaf 1 or Leaf 2. Each covers 23 of the 53 segments and returns 97.10%. |
|---|---|
| Wheel multiplier | A random boost of 2x to 10x assigned to segments after the betting window closes. Nobody can bet on it, because it appears after betting ends. |
| House edge | The complement of RTP. A 97.10% RTP means a 2.90% house edge — the mathematical cost of playing. |
| Payout cap | The maximum a single round can pay: €500,000. Above the cap, the published RTP falls to roughly 94.55%. |
| Stop-loss | A limit set inside the game: autoplay and the session stop automatically once the balance drops by the chosen amount. |
| Contribution rate | The percentage of each bet that counts towards wagering. Slots usually count 100%; live game shows often only 0%–50%. |
| Speed game show | Evolution's term for a live show built around short rounds. Ice Fishing runs roughly forty to fifty rounds per hour. |

Frequently asked questions
How do multipliers work in Ice Fishing?
After the betting window closes, random wheel segments receive boosts: 3x–10x on one leaf segment and 2x–10x on all segments of one bonus type. If the flapper stops on a boosted segment, the payout is multiplied.
What is the highest multiplier in the game?
10x on the wheel, which can multiply a 500x Huge Reds fish into a 5,000x payout.
Do multipliers apply before or after betting?
After. Betting closes first, then the boosts are assigned, so no player can react to them.
How much does a 10x leaf segment pay?
10:1 — ten times your stake in total, so €9 profit on a €1 chip.
Do bonus multipliers stack with fish multipliers?
Yes, and that is the whole point: the wheel boost multiplies every fish value in that bonus round.
Can I increase my chances of getting a multiplier?
No. Multipliers are assigned randomly after betting closes, and every round is independent.
Are multipliers visible before I place a bet?
No. Wheel boosts are assigned after the betting window closes and only then shown on the wheel; the fish multipliers appear during the bonus round itself. Nothing about them is knowable in advance.
Does a higher stake change the multiplier?
No. The multiplier is drawn from a fixed range for each spot and applies to whatever stake you placed. A larger chip scales the payout, not the multiplier.
Does the boost apply to both leaves?
No. It is assigned to one leaf, or to one bonus type, at random after the betting window closes — never to both halves at once.
Can a multiplier appear on a losing bet?
Yes, constantly: a boosted leaf you did not back is the most common near miss in the game, and it pays nothing.
Is the fish multiplier chosen by the host?
No. The host reels in the fish for the reveal, but the value is produced by the random number generator exactly like the wheel segment.
Do multipliers stack across rounds?
No. Each round is independent: the wheel boost and the fish multiplier apply to that round only and have no effect on the next one.
